ADI Global Distribution now have the opportunity for VAT Analyst to join our Indirect Tax team based from our International Head Office in Chadderton, Oldham. This is a hybrid working role with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax, you will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance of multiple businesses throughout Europe, liaising with external advisors and supporting in-house VAT reporting. In this role, you will gain exposure to various VAT issues and related matters in the UK and in the EU.

Job Duties

  • Prepare VAT Returns, EC Sales Lists, & other mandatory reports related to VAT
  • Prepare monthly VAT return overviews for Country Controllers to assist with approvals
  • Prepare data for submission of VAT payment requests; ensure deadlines for payment are met and highlight large month on month fluctuations in payments or refunds – this includes close working with Payment and Banking team
  • Identify areas of incorrect VAT treatment as part of the VAT return process and communicate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams regarding correct booking of documents from VAT perspective
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of VAT Balance sheet accounts and posting of month end clearing journals. Work with country controllers on open items with a view to clearing issues in a timely manner
  • Assist the business with Tax authority queries and audits
  • Assist the business with ad hoc requests and internal audits
  • Ensure that VAT issues or risks identified are flagged to the Head of VAT in a timely manner, and provide support to resolve
  • Assist with updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure documentation
  • Ad-hoc miscellaneous duties and requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in relevant accounting or VAT compliance
  • Fluent English is essential and additional languages would be beneficial
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organised, analytical and methodical with strong attention to detail
