Department: Corporate Tax

Location: London Cavendish Square

Description

At Simmons Gainsford, we are a forward-thinking accountancy firm providing high-quality audit, tax and consulting services to a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses. Our clients range from entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses to complex groups with international operations, giving our teams exposure to a broad range of industries, structures and commercial challenges. We pride ourselves on a genuinely client-centric approach, providing practical, tailored advice and building long-term, trusted relationships.

Due to continued growth and recent acquisitions, we are looking for a VAT Manager to join our growing tax team. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the VAT Partner to develop and grow our VAT offering, while taking ownership of interesting and technically challenging client work. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of sectors and client structures, including international groups, and play an active role in developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.

The role offers excellent exposure to generalist VAT advisory and compliance, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their technical experience and develop their career within practice. You’ll work on a wide range of VAT matters and client scenarios, with the support of an experienced Partner and wider tax team, while having genuine scope to shape the growth of the VAT offering within the firm.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
