Your new role:
As VAT Manager, you will lead the VAT compliance and advisory function for the company and its subsidiaries. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you'll take ownership of VAT strategy, compliance and risk management, while providing expert advice on complex tax matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing VAT and other taxes, including PESM and CGS adjustments
  • Advising on VAT implications for research funding, capital projects and international collaborations
  • Developing tax-efficient practices and maintaining strong relationships with HMRC
  • Leading a small team, delivering training and engaging stakeholders across the organisation
  • Identifying opportunities for VAT savings and process improvements

What you'll need to succeed:
To succeed in this VAT Manager role you will need:

  • Extensive experience in tax advisory and compliance, ideally within a complex or public sector environment
  • In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation, particularly VAT
  • A recognised tax or accountancy qualification (CTA or Equivalent)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands and deliver to tight deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience with Unit4 ERP systems
  • Knowledge of tax in the public or not-for-profit sector
  • Understanding of overseas tax issues
