Your new role
As a VAT Senior Manager, you will deliver VAT services to a wide range of clients including household names, multinational groups and fast‑paced privately-owned businesses. While strong UK VAT knowledge is essential, a significant portion of your work will involve collaborating across the firm's international network to support clients with global VAT issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a key point of contact for your client portfolio, managing relationships and responding proactively to client needs.
- Taking full responsibility for the delivery of VAT advisory and compliance projects.
- Managing a portfolio that includes billing, cash collection and assignment planning.
- Reviewing work produced by junior team members and providing constructive feedback.
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients.
- Monitoring budgets, identifying overruns and ensuring compliance with internal quality control processes.
- Highlighting technical issues, risks and opportunities for additional services.
- Contributing to the management of the VAT group and supporting colleagues across the firm.
- Coaching, appraising and developing junior team members.
- Recognising and contributing to business development opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
- Building relationships with senior client stakeholders and collaborating with internal specialists to deliver integrated solutions.

What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience and understanding of UK VAT.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of key areas of VAT legislation and emerging focus points.
- Ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio effectively.
- A proactive mindset with a desire to identify opportunities for additional work.
- Experience dealing directly with HMRC.
- Confidence engaging with senior client stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A curious mindset, a positive attitude and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a supportive team culture.
