We are looking for an experienced Model Maker to be responsible for assembly of the models, preparing parts and assemblies in line with our Aerodynamic program, to enhance and make the car faster. They will liaise with other Modelmakers, Model design, Mechanical design, Aerodynamicist plus the Additive Manufacturing team to provide parts for wind tunnel testing.
Job Description
Model Making
- Work with the model shop staff and Aero department, to develop our wind tunnel model and testing program.
- To investigate new technologies and concepts for parts and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with external groups such as other sections of the department to ensure that parts are tested on time.
- Execute the day-to-day tasks, providing a ‘can do attitude’, to all tasks set with a strong eye for detail.
- Manage timelines effectively, to ensure timely delivery of high-class models and parts.
Professionalism
- Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects.
- To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be proactive in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors.
- Create a positive and cohesive work environment, to promote growth and progression.
- To maintain and develop good relationships with all existing staff and support workers.

Qualifications
- Previous Automotive experience would be excellent; ideally with engineering experience, and with a preference in F1.
- Strong, broad understanding of high-quality part manufacture and model assembly techniques.
- Strong, broad understanding of high-quality part manufacture and model assembly techniques, including an appreciation of mechanical systems.
- Flexibility to work weekends if required and adjust to fluctuating demands and schedules as required by project timelines.
- Flexibility to work on shifts.
- Ability to scope all tasks thoroughly with little assistance.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ensure ability to scope complete tasks within a strict timescale.
- Provide a willing attitude to help us to succeed and improve processes, where possible.
- Delivers timely information, reporting and delivering to deadlines set on the job list, and keeping on top of work related communications.
- Ability to work professionally and competently with colleagues and team overall.
- Availability to work in Milton Keynes and at our wind tunnel facility in Bedford when required.
