Celery Breeder Opportunity
Our client, a leading international vegetable breeding company, is looking for a practical, curious, and commercially-minded Celery Breeder. Backed by significant new investment, the business is entering an exciting period of growth.
Role Overview
Working alongside the Senior Celery Breeder, you'll support the full celery breeding process, from creating breeding populations to developing new F1 hybrid varieties for commercial growers. It's a rare chance to build specialist expertise, combining field and glasshouse work with data analysis and molecular tools.

Responsibilities
- Design, run, and evaluate field and glasshouse trials
- Create breeding populations, select plants, and develop inbred lines
- Evaluate traits such as yield, disease resistance, bolt tolerance, and flavor
- Analyze trial data to inform selection decisions
- Work with international teams and visit trials, growers, and customers in the UK and overseas

Requirements
- A sound understanding of genetics and plant breeding
- Experience in plant breeding, plant science, or a related field, with hands-on plant experience
- Strong data and analytical skills
- Enthusiasm for outdoor field and glasshouse work
- Flexibility to travel and a full driving licence
- Vegetable breeding experience or an MSc/PhD is a plus, but celery knowledge isn't required
