Role Description
This full-time, on-site role is based in Ellesmere Port and combines vehicle technician responsibilities with MOT testing for classes 4, 5, and 7. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
- Performing routine servicing
- Carrying out safety inspections
- Completing scheduled maintenance on a range of vehicles
- Conducting MOT tests in line with DVSA regulations
- Accurately recording results
- Advising customers on any remedial work required

- Using diagnostic equipment
- Following workshop procedures
- Maintaining accurate service and test documentation
- Contributing to keeping the workspace clean, safe, and compliant
Collaboration with colleagues, clear communication with customers, and consistent adherence to health and safety standards are essential.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualifications in motor vehicle maintenance and repair (e.g., Level 3 or equivalent) and strong practical experience as a vehicle technician.
- Valid MOT tester license for classes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7, with up-to-date knowledge of DVSA rules and testing procedures. (This would be a bonus but not a deal breaker)
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical diagnostics, use of modern diagnostic tools, and ability to perform servicing, repairs, and fault-finding efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety and quality, and ability to follow workshop processes and regulatory standards accurately.
- Effective communication skills, customer-focused approach, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Basic IT skills for using garage management systems and completing electronic records; a full UK driving license is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in an MOT testing station or franchise/independent garage environment is an advantage.
