Role Description
The Vehicle Diagnostics Analyst is a contract role responsible for interpreting vehicle data, identifying faults, and providing clear reports and recommendations to support maintenance and repair decisions. This hybrid role is based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a mix of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility, depending on business needs and diagnostic activities.

- Retrieving and analyzing diagnostic codes
- Reviewing telematics and sensor data
- Tracking recurring issues
- Collaborating with technicians, operations, and fleet managers to prioritize repairs
The analyst documents findings in concise reports, maintains accurate records in fleet management systems, and helps refine diagnostic processes to improve reliability and turnaround times. The role may also support root-cause analysis, contribute to technical documentation, and participate in meetings to discuss vehicle performance trends and preventive maintenance strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong vehicle diagnostics skills, including reading and interpreting fault codes, telematics data, and sensor outputs from modern fleet vehicles.
- Experience with fleet management or automotive software systems and ability to work with spreadsheets or databases to track issues and trends.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in identifying root causes and recommending next steps.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for producing understandable reports and collaborating with technicians, engineers, and operations staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing onsite inspections or data collection with remote analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of basic automotive systems (engine, transmission, electrical, safety systems) and familiarity with manufacturer service information.
- Prior experience in automotive diagnostics, fleet operations, or a related technical field is highly beneficial.
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in automotive technology, vehicle diagnostics, or engineering is preferred.
