Vehicle Graphics & Valeting Technician

Reporting To

Workshop Manager

Location

Normanton Workshop

Role Purpose

To install Chapter 8 reflective vehicle markings, chevrons, safety decals, and customer livery to a highly professional standard across a range of commercial vehicles. The role is responsible for ensuring vehicles meet company and customer specifications and are compliant with road safety visibility requirements. The role will also be required to support vehicle preparation and valeting activities to ensure vehicles attain the required standards prior to delivery. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Chapter 8 Graphics Installation (Primary Duty)

  • Install Chapter 8 chevrons, reflective markings, conspicuity tape, customer livery, and safety decals to customer vehicles.
  • Measure, align, and apply graphics accurately to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for vinyl and reflective material application.
  • Remove existing graphics and adhesive residue when required.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure installations meet company and customer standards.
  • Interpret vehicle graphics layouts, fitting instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Use specialist tools and materials safely and effectively.
  • Identify and rectify installation defects where possible.
  • Maintain stock levels of the respective vinyl kits for the different vehicles, as well as other reflective materials and any customer livery/ stickers, as required.

Vehicle Preparation & Valeting

  • Wash and prepare vehicles prior to graphics installation.
  • Carry out final cleans following installation.
  • Prepare vehicles for customer handover.
  • Maintain high presentation standards across the fleet.
  • Complete basic vehicle condition inspections before and after work.

Health & Safety

  • Follow all workshop health and safety procedures.
  • Use PPE where required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Handle chemicals, cleaning products, and fitting equipment safely.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and equipment defects promptly.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good practical and manual skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with measurements and templates.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Able to manage their time and be reliable.
  • Quality focused.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to travel between depots.

Desirable

  • Experience fitting vehicle graphics, vinyl wraps, or decals.
  • Knowledge of Chapter 8 vehicle marking requirements.
  • Vehicle valeting or preparation experience.
  • Experience working on commercial vehicles.
  • Use of cutting and application tools.
