What to Expect

Reporting to the Head Of Department the Vehicle Line Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of Vehicle Interiors to allocated McLaren Programs, operating as a key link between the Function Group and Programme team.

What You'll Do

Financial

  • Cascade of the Function Group budget
  • Manage the discussion with the VLD on Actual spend required v budget
  • Manage the VTC and RoR to ensure compliance to the spend profile and overall budget, tracking spend and approving spend.

Resource

  • Create Statement of Work and work with indirect Purchasing to send out packs for quotations for Design Supplier Resource
  • Be the point of contact for contract and payment queries from the Design Supplier
  • Be responsible for the onboarding of the new Design supplier

Timing

  • Cascade of the High Level Plan – with key information defined such as Surface releases, Build events, testing and gateways

Reporting & Meeting Representation

  • Accountable for accurate forecasting and status of financials associated with programme activities and deliverables across internal resource and supplier spend (tooling investment, D&D and external resource) for the given programme.
  • Operating as the primary point of contact for the programme, ensure that Function Group programme deliverables are completed to time, cost, weight and quality.
  • Be the functional point of contact from concept to series.
  • Planning, monitoring and execution of project activities to ensure project delivery.
  • Manage the Risk Assessment Tool for the programme, ensuring that DFMEA & Tech Specs are completed by the responsible owners as required.
  • Establish and control system design, release (ETRS), development and validation plans in association with functional experts.
  • Manage the KPI’s: BOM/Investment/Quality concerns/Build deviations/Engineering release
  • Ensure control and drive efficiency of functional programme delivery through use of available systems (e.g. timesheet outputs) to challenge and ensure appropriate allocation of costs to assigned programme for given function group.
  • Ensure effective preparation and attendance at relevant forums, providing clear and effective communication on updates and status from department to programme teams, and vice versa.
  • Generate and support key technology and system decisions with business cases and a clear lifecycle approach, ensuring consequences of decisions are understood and managed appropriately.
  • Promote XF working and Simultaneous Engineering approach - Supplier liaison & management.
  • Lead supply chain activities in association with suppliers, buyers, cost engineering, engineering, SQA and logistics to ensure design to cost, supplier nomination and delivery of components and systems on schedule for all phases of prototype, pilot and pre-production.
