What to Expect

Reporting to the Head of EE Programmes to manager delivery of vehicle software in line with the Feature Implementation Plan.

Work within a matrix organization to help plan and deliver world-leading products, defining scenarios that support business planning, concept generation, and robustly delivering parallel projects via the McLaren Development Process, ensuring the team remain on time, on budget.

What You'll Do

• Manage all Software & EE Architecture project targets and deliverables, ensuring they are cascaded, communicated, and reported against effectively at every stage of the vehicle programme to management. Prepare and Present Software & EE Architecture MDP slides to project gateways.
• Deliver all systems in line with targets, KPI’s and milestones as set by the McLaren Development Process (MDP) and Project management leaders.
• Generate and support key technology and system decisions with business cases and a clear lifecycle approach. Ensure consequences of decisions are understood and fed back into targets, budgets, and plans.
• Manage Software Change Requests – Support and work with Software Integration engineer to agree the change & target implementation timing.
• Support decision meetings with concise, accurate technical and project information. Ensure consequences of decisions are understood and fed back into targets, budgets, and plans.
• Define and deliver the feature implementation plan (FIP) with support from the programme management team and the SW & EE Architecture / Electrical Systems principals. Ensure the FIP is consistent with development plan, gateways, sign-off timing, deliverables are met in line with required timing.
• Create the Software Platform plan for the programme & cascade requirements for feature implementation, software maturity & timing to the software engineers & module owners. Ensure robust feedback on the feasibility of the plan from all stakeholders and that any dependencies (e.g., ARXML release / hardware / test property timing) are well understood.
• Monitor functional implementation & timing to ensure each platform remains on track to the agreed software maturity & FIP. Responsible to ensure that each platform is technically compatible, advising on the impact of any late / incomplete deliveries & finding a solution to support the customers of that platform.
• Work with Lead Validation Engineer to ensure stress testing and the relevant functional attributes are assessed at each milestone. Identify key technical risks and priority fix tickets. Monitor delivery of key fixes into next platform.
• Create platform critical issues dashboards & ensure these are closed.
• Lead system level issue root cause analysis (from field, vehicle DVP, MPC & Aftersales), pulling cross-functional teams together to solve difficult issues.
• Be the primary point of contact for the Programme within Software & EE Architecture. Define and embrace the functional and departmental goals and be the voice of the Software & EE Architecture Function Group within the programme.
• Work closely with the Electrical Systems TPM, who is responsible for managing the full budget for the Vehicle Line across the Software & EE Architecture department, including internal and external resources, tooling investment, D&D and BOM cost with support from Vehicle Programme Manager.
• Promote, implement, and support a Simultaneous Engineering approach where early engagement from all stakeholders is maximized to ensure maximum efficiency and performance and avoid late changes and delays in the overall process.
