About us
A&I Autos has kept the north east of Scotland moving since 1985. Alongside our passenger transport fleet, we run a busy workshop and MOT testing station in Stonehaven, looking after our own buses and coaches as well as customer vehicles. We are flexible, ambitious and genuinely proud of the work we do, and we want everyone in our team to have a great place to work and to grow.
The role
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our workshop. You will maintain and repair a varied fleet, our own vehicles and customers' vehicles, so no two days look quite the same. If you are an MOT tester, or would like to become one, we will put your skills to use in our testing station and fund your progression to testing level.
We know good mechanics are hard to come by, so we make it worth your while. We are very flexible and will adapt your hours and holidays around your life, not the other way around.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
