This is the job
Ready for a better work-life balance?
Love being on the tools but want more time back for yourself? Join our AA Autocentre in Dartford as a Vehicle Mechanic / Technician and enjoy a £39,400 salary, consistent daytime hours, your evenings free and only every other Saturday – finishing at 2:00pm.
Whether it’s getting home in time for dinner, hitting the gym, seeing friends, spending time with family or simply switching off, this is a mechanic role designed to give you more predictability outside of work.
At our AA Autocentre in Dartford, you’ll support both AA members and non-members with servicing, MOTs, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, with our Roadside Patrols also able to tow vehicles directly into the centre. You’ll work in a state-of-the-art facility with the specialist equipment and support you need to do your best work.
And you don’t need to tick every traditional box. If you’ve got years of hands-on experience in the trade but don’t hold a Level 3 qualification, we still want to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will I be doing?
