Renault Retail Group is looking for a Vehicle Preparation Technician to join our workshop team at Renault Cardiff on Penarth Road (CF11).

This role is ideally suited to a Technician holding a Level 2 IMI qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair who enjoys working on vehicle preparation, inspection, servicing, and quality checks to ensure vehicles are ready for retail sale and customer handover.

What You'll Do

As a Vehicle Preparation Technician, you'll help ensure vehicles meet Renault Retail Group's retail standards before delivery or sale.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and vehicle preparation work
  • Completing vehicle health checks and inspections
  • Diagnosing and rectifying basic mechanical faults
  • Preparing used vehicles to approved retail standards
  • Supporting MOT preparation work where required
  • Completing repairs in line with manufacturer and safety standards
  • Accurately recording work completed using workshop systems and processes
  • Maintaining a safe, organised, and professional working environment
  • Supporting colleagues to ensure vehicles are available for sale and customer handover on time

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Level 2 IMI qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Previous experience in a workshop, fast-fit, preparation, or servicing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • A professional and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work effectively within an established workshop team

The following would be advantageous:

  • MOT Tester licence (Class 4 and 7)

Licence Requirement

A full UK manual driving licence (manual and automatic vehicles) is essential for this role.

Hours & Pay

  • £31,000 pa basic salary + monthly bonus (OTE £35,650 pa) + Car
  • £32,000 pa basic salary for candidates holding a valid MOT Tester licence (Class 4 and 7)
  • Uncapped efficiency bonus scheme with additional earnings of approximately £4,650 pa, achievable and regularly reached
  • 40 hours per week: Monday to Friday: 8:30am-5:00pm, with 30-minute lunch break
  • Overtime: 1-in-4 Saturday on rota, 8:00am-12:00pm, paid at time-and-a-half
