Role Description

This full-time, on-site role is based at the Hastings showroom and service center. The Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester is responsible for carrying out routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of vehicles in line with manufacturer standards and DVSA regulations.

Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Performing MOT tests
  • Completing vehicle health checks
  • Conducting mechanical and electrical fault-finding
  • Undertaking scheduled maintenance and repair work

Responsibilities

  • Accurately recording all work completed
  • Following workshop processes
  • Ensuring that vehicles are returned to customers safely and on time
  • Collaborating with service advisors and parts teams
  • Upholding safety and quality standards
  • Providing clear feedback on vehicle condition and required work

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in vehicle maintenance and general maintenance & repair, including routine servicing and diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience with oil changes and related service operations, following manufacturer and safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency in automotive repair and suspension work, including fault-finding and component replacement.
  • Valid MOT Tester qualification (DVSA-approved) and up-to-date understanding of MOT testing procedures and regulations.
  • Relevant automotive technical qualifications (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent) and experience in a franchised or reputable independent workshop.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information, use diagnostic equipment, and complete accurate job cards and reports.
  • Commitment to health and safety, high quality standards, and delivering reliable, customer-focused service.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, on-site workshop environment.
