Vehicle Technician
Are you an experienced Vehicle Technician looking for something different from the conventional dealership or independent garage environment?
You do not need previous Aston Martin experience to join us. We are interested in capable technicians from across the motor industry who have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills and would like the opportunity to work in a more specialist and varied environment.
Aston Workshop is one of the world's leading independent Aston Martin specialists, with an international reputation built over more than three decades.
From our extensive facilities in the Beamish countryside, our team of more than 40 specialists work across everything from historic Aston Martins through to modern Aston Martin and other prestige and performance vehicles.
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Vehicle Technician to join our modern service and repair team.
The role covers servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair, while also offering the opportunity to become involved in vehicle enhancements, upgrades, engineering and product development.
The Role
The position covers the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of modern Aston Martin and other prestige and performance vehicles.
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
- Routine servicing and scheduled maintenance
- Mechanical diagnosis and fault finding
- Electronic and electrical diagnostics
- Use of manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment
- Engine, transmission, suspension, steering and braking repairs
- Cooling and air-conditioning system diagnosis and repair
- Electrical system repairs
- Investigating and resolving intermittent or unusual faults
- Vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
- Identifying additional work and accurately reporting vehicle condition
- Preparing vehicles for road testing and carrying out road tests where appropriate
- Working closely with our wider mechanical and engineering teams
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and workshop practice
Because of the nature of the vehicles we work with, there is an emphasis on diagnosing problems properly rather than simply replacing components until a fault disappears.

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a competent technician who takes pride in their work and enjoys understanding how and why things work.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic or Diagnostic Technician
- A recognised automotive qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Strong general mechanical ability
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience using modern vehicle diagnostic equipment
- A good understanding of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems
- The ability to work methodically and independently
- Good attention to detail
- A high standard of workmanship
- A full UK driving licence
- A genuine interest in cars and engineering
Experience with Aston Martin, prestige, performance or specialist vehicles would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
If your background is with another manufacturer, we are interested in the skills and experience you have developed rather than the badge you currently work on.
Something Different
We are an independent, family-owned specialist business rather than part of a large dealer group. You'll work on some exceptional vehicles alongside technicians, restoration specialists and engineers with a broad range of experience.
Alongside servicing, diagnostics and repair, Aston Workshop is heavily involved in vehicle enhancement, engineering and product development. We continually develop new components, upgrades and solutions for both classic and more modern vehicles.

You don't need previous product development or engineering experience. The core role remains that of a Vehicle Technician, but for someone who wants to broaden their skills and get involved in more technical projects, the opportunity is there.
Working Environment
Aston Workshop operates from a large specialist facility in the Beamish countryside, with dedicated mechanical, restoration, engineering, body and paint departments.
You will join an established team with access to specialist equipment and technical support.
While productivity is naturally important in any commercial workshop, our emphasis is on completing work properly and to a consistently high standard.
Working Hours & Salary
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, including a 30-minute paid tea break each day.
Paid overtime is available, along with flexible start and finish times to provide greater flexibility around the working day.
Salary is competitive and fully negotiable depending on experience and ability.
The salary figure shown on Indeed represents the minimum starting figure required by the platform and does not represent a cap on the salary available. Experienced technicians and candidates with strong diagnostic or specialist skills are encouraged to apply.
