Commercial Vehicle Technician / Workshop Mechanic

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Position Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent

Hours: 52 hours per week (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Pay Rate: £16.00 – £20.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Breaks: 30 min morning break, 45 min lunch, 15 min afternoon break

About the Role

Seeking an experienced or adaptable Mechanic / Technician to join our team in Corby. Working in a dynamic workshop environment, you will be performing routine maintenance, thorough safety inspections, and general repairs on a varied fleet.

This role offers immediate work on a temporary-to-permanent basis, providing long-term career stability for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance, routine servicing, and safety inspections.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Prepare vehicles to high standards for MOT and compliance testing.
  • Maintain clear and accurate service and repair documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical background working on light commercial vehicles (LCVs), heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), or automotive light vehicles.
  • Motor Mechanics Welcome: Candidates with standard automotive/light vehicle experience who are eager to work on commercial vehicles will be considered.
  • Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served experience).
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (52 hours weekly).
