Investment Manager – Consumer & Consumer Technology
Location: London
The Opportunity
A leading European early-stage investment firm is looking to appoint an Investment Manager to join its London-based team.
Candidates must have previous principal investing experience in consumer or consumer technology businesses. This is an essential requirement. The firm is particularly interested in investors who have already evaluated and completed investments across several of the following areas:
- Consumer technology and mobile applications
- Digital marketplaces and e-commerce
- Health, wellness and fitness
- Food and beverage
- Beauty, skincare and personal care
- Consumer goods and digitally native brands
- Pet care and pet technology
- Fintech and technology-enabled consumer financial services
- Mobility and consumer transportation
- Travel, leisure and hospitality
- Consumer subscriptions and membership models
- Sustainable consumer products and materials
The firm invests in ambitious early-stage businesses across the UK and Europe, backing companies with distinctive products, strong early customer engagement and the potential to become category-defining consumer brands.
The Role
The Investment Manager will take a leading role across the complete investment lifecycle, from originating opportunities and developing sector theses through to transaction execution and portfolio support.
Responsibilities will include:
- Proactively sourcing new investment opportunities across the European consumer ecosystem
- Building trusted relationships with founders, entrepreneurs and sector participants
- Developing investment theses across attractive consumer and consumer-technology verticals
- Assessing new products, markets, business models and competitive positioning
- Evaluating customer behaviour, brand strength, retention and unit economics
- Analysing commercial performance, cohort data and growth metrics
- Leading financial analysis, valuation and investment-return assessment
- Managing commercial, financial, legal and operational due diligence
- Preparing and presenting recommendations to the investment committee
- Negotiating and executing new investments
- Supporting portfolio company founders on growth, strategy, hiring and fundraising
- Representing the firm within the European founder and venture capital community
- Coaching and supporting junior members of the investment team

Candidate Profile
- Relevant experience within venture capital, growth equity or a consumer-focused investment firm
- A proven record of investing in consumer or consumer-technology businesses
- Direct transaction experience from initial assessment through due diligence and execution
- Strong knowledge of early-stage business models and venture capital economics
- The ability to assess both technology-enabled platforms and physical consumer brands
- A sophisticated understanding of consumer behaviour, brand development and routes to market
- Strong commercial judgement supported by rigorous analytical skills
- An established network across the UK or European consumer and technology ecosystem
- Experience working directly with founders and management teams
- Excellent written, verbal and investment-committee presentation skills

Experience advising consumer companies, working in investment banking or holding an operating role within a consumer business may be valuable, but it will not replace the requirement for previous principal investing experience.
