Venture Scout – Edinburgh VenturePoint (EVP)
Part-time, flexible · Semester-long · Open to all university students within Edinburgh
About EVP
Edinburgh VenturePoint is a student-led venture capital and networking society, run as a SIG under CompSoc. We not only connect students with the founders, investors and ideas shaping the Scottish startup scene, but also provide the network for those looking to find a team of skilled developers to work with.
The role
Each semester, EVP selects a small group of Venture Scouts to find and evaluate the most promising student-led startups across Scotland. You'll learn how early-stage investors think, meet founders from every discipline, and work closely with the EVP committee and our partners in the Edinburgh ecosystem.

What you'll do
- Source student-led startups at Edinburgh and universities across Scotland
- Research and evaluate early-stage ventures, and present your findings to the team
- Attend investor meetings, demo days and EVP events
- Join regular team discussions on deal flow and trends

Who we're looking for
Curious, proactive students from any degree or year who are interested in startups, venture capital or entrepreneurship. No prior investing experience needed, just good judgement, a willingness to learn and the ability to communicate your ideas clearly.
