DEPARTMENT: Front of House

REPORTS TO: Stadium Front of House Manager

REPORTEES: Event Managers & Senior Events Supervisors

Ashton Gate Stadium is a unique sports and entertainment business with the core aim of providing integral support services to ensure the sustainability of Stephen Lansdown’s sporting group of companies, which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City, Bristol Bears, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.

Job Purpose

The Hospitality & Events Manager is responsible for planning, managing and delivering all hospitality services and non-matchday events within the stadium. This includes matchday corporate hospitality, conferences, concerts and private functions. The role ensures exceptional guest experiences, revenue growth and operational excellence in a high-volume, fast-paced stadium environment.

Key Responsibilities

Hospitality Management

  • Oversee all matchday hospitality operations for fixtures.
  • Manage VIP suites, corporate boxes, lounges, premium seating areas and catering services.
  • Conduct regular quality audits of hospitality areas, event spaces, food service, presentation standards and customer journey touchpoints.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through staff coaching, training and performance management.

Event Planning & Delivery

  • Plan and execute non-matchday events.
  • Develop event proposals, pricing structures and service packages.
  • Conduct site visits and client consultations.
  • Oversee the full event lifecycle: enquiry → planning → execution → post-event evaluation for Event Managers.

Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, train and manage hospitality and events staff.
  • Coordinate with stewards, security, catering teams and operations.
  • Lead pre-event briefings and post-event debrief sessions.
  • Maintain high staff morale and performance standards.

Revenue

  • Monitor event profitability and ensure all events achieve agreed revenue and margin targets.
  • Review event P&Ls, labour costs, food and beverage spend and operational costs to identify opportunities for improved profitability.
  • Implement controls to minimise revenue leakage, including accurate guest numbers, stock control, invoicing and event reconciliation.

Essential

  • Experience in hospitality or large-scale event management.
  • Experience in a stadium, arena or large venue environment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of football and rugby matchday operations is an advantage.
  • Personal Licence (where applicable) preferred.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are always followed, with relevant paperwork completed and maintained.
  • Ensure all employees complete the required training to perform their roles.
  • Report all incidents and accidents as required.
  • Report any hazards detected.
  • Support the review of risk assessments for the department.
