The Venue

A true powerhouse of live entertainment, AO Arena is one of the enigmatic indoor arenas on the planet, welcoming more than 30 million fans since 1997. From era‑defining music moments to major sporting spectacles, the arena sits at the heart of Manchester’s global reputation for live events. Following a £50 million transformation, AO Arena continues to set the standard of live entertainment both in Manchester and on the world stage.

The Role

As a Venue Engineer, you’ll play a key role behind the scenes, supporting the electrical power and utility needs of everything from concerts and sporting events to conferences and special events.

Working within our Operations team, you’ll support temporary show power, maintain safe and compliant electrical systems, respond to reactive maintenance and work closely with our Technical and Event teams to keep the venue running smoothly.

If you’re a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, this is your opportunity to be part of the team that brings incredible events to life.

The Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver event power requirements, working closely with Event Managers, organisers and production teams to provide practical technical solutions.
  • Install, inspect, test and manage temporary electrical systems, providing Event Engineer and show cover across load-ins, live events and load-outs.
  • Operate and maintain venue systems, including plant, machinery, utilities and the Building Management System, completing planned and reactive maintenance as required.
  • Ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance, maintaining accurate documentation in line with BS7909, legislation, industry standards and venue procedures.
  • Collaborate across the venue, providing technical guidance to colleagues, supporting the Facilities Manager and arranging equipment hire or purchases to ensure successful event delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
