Full time, permanent contract to start as soon as possible

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and flexible Venue Operations Porter to support the smooth delivery of catering, hospitality, conferencing and event operations.

The role will be responsible for setting up and turning around rooms and event spaces to a high standard, ensuring all areas are clean, safe, presentable and prepared in line with each event requirement. This will include moving furniture, setting up tables and chairs, preparing catering areas, supporting the wider catering team, and assisting with general porter duties across the venue.

This is a hands-on role that requires flexibility, attention to detail and a willingness to work around the needs of the business, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and matchdays.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Room Set-Ups and Event Preparation

  • Set up rooms and event spaces according to function sheets, event briefs and manager instructions.
  • Arrange tables, chairs, linen, staging, catering stations and other event furniture as required.
  • Ensure rooms are clean, tidy, well-presented and ready before guests, clients or members arrive.
  • Support room turnarounds between events, meetings, hospitality sittings and matchday operations.
  • Clear down rooms after events and return spaces to the required layout.
  • Check that all equipment, furniture and set-up requirements are in place and report any issues promptly.
  • Work closely with the catering, events and operations teams to ensure each event runs smoothly.
  • Assist with the movement of food, beverages, stock, equipment and catering supplies around the venue.
  • Support the catering team with preparation areas, service points and back-of-house requirements.
  • Ensure all catering equipment is handled safely and stored correctly after use.
  • Help maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation across all catering and hospitality areas.

Matchday, Events and Operational Support

  • Support the set-up and breakdown of hospitality areas, bars, lounges, meeting rooms and public catering spaces.
  • Assist with deliveries, stock movement and equipment transport around the site.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to requests from managers during busy event periods.
  • Help ensure all spaces are safe, accessible and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Provide general operational support across the venue when required.

The successful candidate must be willing to work:

  • Early mornings (potentially 4am or 5am starts)

  • Bank holidays where required (time off in lieu will be given)
  • Matchdays and major event days
  • Variable shift patterns based on business demand

The role will require a positive attitude towards flexible working and the ability to adapt to changing priorities at short notice.

  • Aware of the importance of cleanliness, safety and attention to detail.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a catering, events, hospitality, cleaning, facilities or porter role.
  • Ability to carry out physical work, including lifting, moving and setting up furniture.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety requirements.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a sports venue, events venue, hotel, conference centre or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene practices.
  • Manual handling training.
  • Experience working on busy matchdays or large-scale events.

You will need to have the Right to Work in the UK or be able to independently obtain this by the start date. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Hours, benefits and salary:

  • This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over 5 days. Flexibility around working hours is essential
