The Opportunity
The Dog Ranch is looking for an exceptional and highly experienced Veterinary Practice Manager to take a leading role in the creation, launch and ongoing management of a brand-new, independent small animal veterinary practice in central Perthshire.
This is a rare opportunity to join well before the doors open and help build a veterinary practice from the ground up. We are not looking for someone simply to manage an established practice. We want an experienced, commercially minded individual who can work alongside the owners to design, establish and ultimately run an outstanding veterinary business.
The Role
The successful candidate will join us several months ahead of opening and will be employed on a full-time salary throughout the entire setup period. During this phase, you will have significant involvement in practically every aspect of establishing the practice, including:
- Helping design the operational structure and day-to-day workflow of the practice
- Selecting and implementing practice-management software, systems and procedures
- Developing SOPs, policies and administrative processes
- Helping specify, source and procure veterinary and clinical equipment
- Working with suppliers and contractors during the fit-out and commissioning of the practice
- Establishing stock-control, purchasing and supplier arrangements
- Helping recruit the initial veterinary team
- Interviewing vets, veterinary nurses and support staff
- Developing rotas, staffing structures and responsibilities
- Helping establish pricing, client journeys and service standards
- Ensuring the practice is fully prepared operationally before opening
- Managing the transition from development phase into a fully functioning veterinary practice

Once operational, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and continued development of the practice, working closely with the owners and clinical leadership team.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a top-level candidate with significant veterinary practice-management experience. Ideally, you will have previously managed a successful small animal practice or held a senior operational role within a substantial veterinary business.
You should be comfortable managing people, finances, systems and operations while also having the confidence and experience to make decisions and build something new. Previous experience of opening, expanding or substantially restructuring a veterinary practice would be particularly valuable, although it is not essential.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware, ambitious and genuinely excited by the opportunity to create an exceptional independent veterinary practice from scratch.

The veterinary practice will form part of The Dog Ranch, an ambitious new animal-care and canine destination being developed on approximately 100 acres in central Perthshire.
The Dog Ranch is designed to bring a range of complementary canine and veterinary services together on one site. The wider development will combine:

- Dog breeding and puppy development

The veterinary practice itself will be independently and owner operated, allowing us to build the practice around excellent clinical care, outstanding client service and a positive working environment rather than trying to fit into an existing corporate model.
Package
We recognise that finding the right person at this stage is critical to the success of the practice. For that reason, we are prepared to offer a market-leading salary and package for an exceptional candidate, reflecting both the seniority of the position and the responsibility involved in helping establish the business.
This is a permanent, full-time position, with salary commencing during the pre-opening development period. For the right individual, there is considerable opportunity to grow with the veterinary practice and the wider Dog Ranch business.
