Hull Vets for Pets

Hull Vets for Pets is a locally owned practice and we are now looking for an Animal Care Assistant to join our friendly team.

About us

Our surgery is purpose built complete with high quality facilities and equipment allowing excellent clinical care to be achieved. You’ll be joining a team of 24 which hold various levels of experience and interests but remain a close-knit team with a shared commitment to supporting each other’s well-being.

We are a standalone practice based on County Road South in Hull, with access to parking, a bus stop and local amenities nearby. You can find out more about our practice and team here.

About the role

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, which will be spread over 4 – 5 days Monday-Friday, and 1 in 4 Saturday mornings to keep it fair for everyone and ensure you get that well-earned and needed downtime.

By joining us you will have the opportunity to cover a variety of job roles under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary nurse, which will include:

  • Handling and restraining animals safely and compassionately
  • Observe/care for animals pre and post-surgery
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalised patients
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Dispensary duties
  • Perform laboratory tests using up to date equipment
  • Maintaining clinic hygiene
  • Occasional reception work

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in animal care is desirable, but not essential – in house training will be provided.

You will have strong communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a busy environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
