Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) - Oxted

We are looking for a friendly, compassionate, and enthusiastic Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Oxted. This is a rewarding role supporting our Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses, and Client Care Assistants in delivering exceptional care to our patients and excellent service to our clients.

The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day running of the practice, including:

  • Animal handling and care
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Preparing equipment
  • Supporting consultations and procedures
  • Assisting with reception duties
  • Ensuring a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners

As part of the role, you will also have the exciting opportunity to spend time working at our Beckenham Hospital, gaining exposure to a wider range of cases and developing your knowledge and experience within a hospital environment.

The position includes participation in a 1 in 5 weekend rota, a share of Bank Holiday cover, and on-call duties. Time off in lieu is provided for Bank Holiday and weekend shifts worked.

This position would suit someone who is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys working as part of a busy team, and is committed to providing outstanding patient and client care. Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

About you

You’re skilled at providing exceptional client care and are passionate about caring for pets. You’re a team player who wants to make a real difference in a practice that values and supports you.

We welcome applications from candidates able to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and who are flexible and willing to learn.

This role is not suitable for young workers in line with Health and Safety Executive (government) direction due to the expected duties of the role. Therefore, you will be asked to confirm that you are over the age of 18 as part of the application process.

What you’ll be doing

Typically, in this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver exceptional care to clients, supporting surgeries and procedures, complying with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting, and feeding
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive team
