Veterinary Care Assistant
As a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), you will support the nurse and vets with in-patient procedures and pet care delivering exceptional care always there to our clients, patients, and colleagues.
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Veterinary Care Assistant to join our clinical team. You will play a vital role in supporting our vets and nurses, ensuring patients receive exceptional care and our clinic runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and restrain animals safely for exams and treatments
- Feed, exercise, and groom hospitalised patients
- Maintain strict clinic hygiene by sanitising consultation rooms, kennels, and surgical equipment
- Assist nurses with surgical prep, instrument sterilisation, and monitoring inpatient vitals
- Greet clients, provide compassionate support during emotional visits
- Assist reception during busy periods

Requirements
- Previous animal handling experience in a veterinary or shelter setting is preferred, though full training is provided
- Strong communication skills
- Empathy for pets and owners
- High attention to detail
- Physical stamina and the ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, adaptable team player

Important Note
This role is not suitable for young workers in line with Health and Safety Executive (government) direction due to the expected duties of the role. Therefore, you will be asked to confirm that you are over the age of 18 as part of the application process.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver exceptional care to clients, supporting surgeries and procedures, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards
- Deliver patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting and feeding
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team
