At Staines Vets for Pets, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and caring Veterinary Care Assistant to join our growing team. Whether you have previous experience in a veterinary environment or are looking to develop your career within the profession, you’ll receive plenty of support and training as you become an important part of our team.

About Us

Our close-knit team is made up of six dedicated colleagues who work together to provide outstanding care for our patients and clients.

Our team includes:

  • 1 Full-Time Veterinary Surgeon
  • 3 Registered Veterinary Nurses, including our Practice Owner and Practice Manager
  • 2 Client Care Assistants

With more than 30 years of combined experience, we’ve created a positive and supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to share knowledge, learn from one another and continue developing.

We believe that looking after our team is just as important as looking after our patients. That’s why we provide a range of wellbeing support, including:

  • Mental Health First Aider
  • Clinical Supervisor
  • Physical and mental wellbeing support
  • Trained Workplace First Aiders

A Practice Designed for Great Veterinary Care

Our modern, purpose-built practice is fully equipped to provide excellent standards of patient care, including:

  • In-house laboratory
  • Digital X-ray
  • Dental X-ray
  • Dedicated dental suite
  • Separate operating theatre
  • Ultrasound
  • Tonometry
  • Glass-fronted kennels

You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced clinical team and gain valuable experience across a varied caseload.

The Role

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, including:

  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch break
  • 1 in rotational Saturdays, 9:00am–5:00pm

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting both the clinical and client care teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent care and attention to our patients
  • Assisting the veterinary team with the day-to-day running of the practice
  • Preparing and cleaning consulting rooms and clinical areas
  • Supporting with patient handling and restraint
  • Preparing patients for procedures and supporting their recovery
  • Feeding, walking and caring for inpatients
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Assisting with stock management and general practice duties
  • Supporting the team with administrative and client-facing tasks
  • Providing a friendly and professional experience for our clients

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for animals and their welfare
  • Ideally has previous experience working with animals, although this isn’t essential
  • Is caring, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Enjoys working as part of a close-knit team
  • Is organised, proactive and happy working in a busy environment
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Is confident handling animals or keen to develop these skills
  • Is willing to learn and develop within the veterinary profession
