We're opening a brand-new Vets for Pets practice in Cardiff Ty Glas and are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Veterinary Care Assistant / Receptionist to join our team from the very beginning.
This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a varied role, combining exceptional client care at reception with hands-on support for our clinical team. As one of the first people our clients meet, you'll help create a warm, welcoming experience while also playing an important part in delivering outstanding care to our patients behind the scenes.

About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You'll split your time between reception duties and supporting the veterinary and nursing team with the day-to-day running of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming clients and their pets with a warm, professional approach.
- Answering telephone and email enquiries.
- Booking appointments and managing the practice diary.
- Taking payments and handling client accounts.
- Maintaining accurate client and patient records.
- Preparing consulting rooms and clinical areas.
- Assisting the veterinary surgeons and nurses with the smooth running of consultations and procedures.
- Caring for hospitalised patients, ensuring they are comfortable and their accommodation is clean and well maintained.
- Cleaning, preparing and sterilising equipment.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the practice.
- Stocking clinical areas and helping to keep the practice organised.
- Supporting the team wherever needed to ensure excellent patient and client care.

About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for animal welfare and customer care.
- Enjoys working with both people and pets.
- Is organised and able to multitask in a busy environment.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Is confident using computers and learning new systems.
- Is proactive, reliable and willing to help wherever needed.
- Works well as part of a supportive team.
- Has previous customer service, reception or animal care experience (preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided).
Experience working in a veterinary practice or with animals would be an advantage but isn't essential. What matters most is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for providing outstanding care.

Our purpose-built practice is located in Llanishen, Cardiff, with excellent transport links, free on-site parking and a great selection of nearby shops and cafés, including Marks & Spencer, Boots and Homesense.
Just 10–15 minutes from Cardiff city centre and with easy access to the M4, it's an ideal location whether you're travelling from Cardiff or the surrounding areas.
