If you would like to work in a busy referral small animal hospital as a Medicine Intern to broaden your horizons, look no further!

Pride Veterinary Referrals currently have an exciting opportunity for a Medicine Intern to join their friendly team on a fixed 12-month contract. You will be working full-time, 40 hours a week across 5 days alongside on-call responsibilities.

This position has a competitive salary of up to £33,000 with extensive company benefits.

About Us

Pride Veterinary Referrals is a large, purpose-built, state-of-the-art referral hospital in Derby. The facilities include thirteen consultation rooms, seven hospital wards, five theatres, two ultrasound rooms, a cardiology suite, an advanced imaging suite with CT and MRI, interventional radiology capability, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, and a dedicated chemotherapy room.

Pride Veterinary Referrals is set at the heart of the prize-winning Pride Park development, in amongst some amazing sporting facilities and commercial enterprises. The foothills of the Derbyshire Dales offer idyllic surroundings, whilst having the urban benefits of both Derby and Nottingham cities on the doorstep, as well as an international airport very close by.

About the Team and Culture

The successful applicant will join our established team of three ECVIM-CA internal medicine diplomates, one ECVIM-CA oncology diplomate, four ECVIM-CA residents, two discipline specific interns, and dedicated medicine nurses.

Altogether, we encompass a team of more than 70 veterinary professionals, delivering specialist-led services across all disciplines. Our aim is to deliver world-class patient care, with collaboration across all services to provide the best possible outcome for all patients.

Working alongside our referral practice, we also have a first opinion service and Vets at Night out-of-hours team. In addition, we have a dedicated leadership structure and dedicated support services including on-site Finance, Customer Care, HR and IT teams.

Applicant Requirements

Desire to pursue a residency is not a requirement, however this one-year internship is aimed at preparing the candidate for an internal medicine residency. The successful candidates will need to be members of the RCVS at the time of starting the internship. Additional requirements are proficiency in the English language, excellent communication skills, reliability, ability to work and think clearly under pressure, and good interpersonal skills.
