Veterinary Neurologist (Specialist or Residency-trained)
Starting part-time, 3-day week (0.75 FTE) · 1:4 weekends · Linton, just outside Cambridge
Signalment
One neurologist. Specialist or residency-trained. Any breed, any age. Must enjoy a good localisation.
History
Chronic and progressive (in a good way). Granta Veterinary Specialists opened in April 2024 as an independent, vet-owned, multidisciplinary referral hospital. We started with a newly repurposed building, a strong vision and a tagline we meant: every effort made, every care taken. In our first two years, we saw more than 4,500 patients. We're still growing, and we want to keep giving excellent care to every patient entrusted to our care. So we're looking for a fourth neurologist to join the team.
Neurological Examination
- Neurological examination: no deficits detected
- Mental status: bright, alert and well-rested
- Behaviour: tip-top. Everyone here talks to each other. Neuro, surgery, medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, anaesthesia and dermatology (!) all work from the same office and high-five about the same cases.
- Reflexes and reactions: well supported. You're on call 1 weekend in 4, shared evenly, with the support of on-site out-of-hours vets overnight and at weekends.
- Nociception: expertly managed. Our anaesthesia team is Specialist-led, with next-level anaesthesia nurses. Think opioid-free spinal surgery, with ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and interventional pain management as standard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
