Clinical Lead Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Permanent | Full-time | South Wales | Up to £39,000 DOE

Lead from the front in a hands-on nursing role that combines excellent patient care, team development and clinical quality improvement.

The opportunity

An established small-animal veterinary organisation in South Wales is looking for an experienced RVN to take clinical ownership during allocated shifts. You will remain actively involved in patient care while supporting colleagues, coordinating workflow and helping the wider clinical team maintain consistently high standards.

This position would suit an existing Clinical Lead RVN, Senior RVN, Head Veterinary Nurse, Head RVN or Nurse Team Leader, as well as an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse ready to take the next step in leadership.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the senior nursing point of contact during allocated shifts and coordinate activity across clinical areas.
  • Maintain oversight of caseloads, patient allocation, staffing resources and changing clinical priorities.
  • Deliver hands-on nursing care and support the safe management of emergency and critical cases.
  • Promote accurate care plans, clear clinical records and effective patient admission, monitoring and discharge.
  • Coach and mentor RVNs, student nurses and patient care assistants, supporting induction and competency development.
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and support teams to maintain clear communication and continuity of care.
  • Champion infection prevention, medicines management, health and safety, and professional nursing standards.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, quality-improvement projects and the development of practical protocols.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
