At Chesterfield Vets for Pets, we believe our reception team is the heart of the practice. You’ll be the last person worried about a much-loved pet sees before they leave. That means this role is about far more than answering the phone or booking appointments.
We’re looking for someone who is warm, organised, professional and genuinely enjoys helping people. Someone who can make every client feel welcome, remain calm during busy periods and become an important part of our close-knit team.
About the role
This is a full-time front-of-house position where no two days are the same.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting clients and their pets with a warm, friendly welcome
- Answering telephone enquiries
- Booking appointments and managing the appointment diary
- Taking payments
- Supporting the smooth running of reception
- Keeping the reception area clean, tidy and welcoming
- Delivering outstanding customer service every day
This is a front-of-house reception role. You’ll be the face of the practice and play a key role in creating an exceptional experience for every client.
What we’re looking for
Previous reception or customer service experience is essential. Veterinary experience is welcome but isn’t essential—we can teach you that.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
