Are you an experienced Veterinary Receptionist looking for an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new practice where you can genuinely be part of its journey from the beginning?
At Vets for Pets Ballymena, we’re building a friendly, down-to-earth and hardworking team with big ambitions for our practice.
We’re now looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join us and help create a welcoming environment where our clients and their pets receive fantastic care from the moment they walk through the door.
About Us
You’ll be joining a small and close-knit team led by our Veterinary Surgeon, who graduated 10 years ago and has been working in the UK ever since. He is working towards a certificate in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery and Orthopaedics, with particular interests in advanced soft tissue procedures and orthopaedic surgery.
Alongside our vet, you’ll work with our Head RVN Nurse, who has five years of experience working in veterinary practice. You’ll also work alongside another receptionist, who brings previous veterinary reception experience as well as a background in cat rescue, rehoming and social media.
We’re friendly, hardworking and ambitious, and we’re looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the team as the practice grows.
The Role
As one of the first people our clients meet, you’ll play an important role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for both clients and their pets.
We’re looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and organised, with great communication skills and the confidence to provide excellent customer service in a busy veterinary environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming clients and their pets into the practice
- Managing appointments and answering telephone enquiries
- Supporting clients with general queries and providing a friendly, professional service
- Handling payments and administrative tasks
- Keeping the reception area organised and welcoming
- Working closely with the veterinary and nursing teams to help the practice run smoothly
- Providing a calm and compassionate approach when supporting clients during more sensitive or difficult situations
Previous veterinary reception experience would be beneficial, but most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for providing great client care who enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
A brand-new practice in Ballymena
You’ll be based within Pets at Home at Braidwater Retail Park, with the practice forming part of the wider Pets at Home and grooming environment.
The retail park has plenty nearby, including B&M, Currys and PureGym, with Smyths, The Range and Sainsbury’s also close by. For lunch or a caffeine fix, Lidl, Costa, Tim Hortons and KFC are all nearby. Ballymena town centre is just a 5 to 10-minute walk away, and for days off exploring, the North Coast is approximately a 20-minute drive away.
There’s also free parking in the large retail park car park, so you won’t need to worry about finding a space before your shift.

Hours & Salary
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday and possibly change along the line with 1 in 2 Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm.
We’re offering a salary in line with National Minimum Wage.
