An opportunity has arisen for an ECVO or ACVO Diplomate in Veterinary Ophthalmology to join our established and growing referral team at Pride Veterinary Referrals.

Your role will involve managing a varied and rewarding ophthalmology referral caseload, delivering exceptional patient care and collaborating closely with colleagues across our multidisciplinary hospital. Whether your interests lie in complex surgical ophthalmology, medical ophthalmology, teaching or service development, this role offers the opportunity to pursue your professional passions within a supportive specialist environment.

Pride Veterinary Referrals is a large, purpose-built multidisciplinary referral hospital based in Derby and forms part of the Scarsdale Veterinary Group. We provide specialist-led services in anaesthesia and analgesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, oncology and ophthalmology, alongside advanced practitioner-led cardiology and rehabilitation services.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include thirteen consultation rooms, seven hospital wards, five operating theatres, a dedicated cardiology suite, advanced imaging facilities including CT and MRI, interventional radiology, endoscopy, hydrotherapy and an in-house laboratory. The hospital provides 24-hour inpatient care supported by dedicated night staff and experienced referral nurses.

Our Ophthalmology Service

The ophthalmology service is currently supported by an ECVO Diplomate, three RCVS Recognised Advanced Practitioners and a dedicated Ophthalmology Nurse.

We benefit from two fully equipped ophthalmology consultation rooms, a dedicated ophthalmology theatre, a Zeiss OPMI Lumera surgical microscope and a Bausch + Lomb Stellaris phacoemulsification system.

Pride Veterinary Referrals also works closely with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, supporting undergraduate clinical training and creating opportunities for teaching and professional development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
