Role Description

The Veterinary Surgeon will provide high-quality clinical care for small animals, including conducting consultations, diagnosing conditions, and delivering medical and surgical treatment.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine and non-routine surgeries
  • Carrying out diagnostic work-ups with the support of a specialist network
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ensuring accurate medical record-keeping

The role involves close collaboration with veterinary nurses and support staff, clear communication with pet owners, and contributing to a supportive, patient-centred practice culture.

Preventive healthcare, client education, participation in case discussions, and involvement in clinical improvement activities are integral to the position.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary Surgery skills.
  • Solid foundation in Veterinary Medicine and general Medicine for small animals.
  • Competence in Pet Care, including preventive health, patient monitoring, and welfare.
  • Laboratory Skills for interpreting diagnostic tests and working with in-house lab equipment.
  • Relevant veterinary degree (e.g., MRCVS or equivalent) and current professional registration.
  • Experience in small animal practice and confidence managing a varied clinical caseload.
  • Clear, empathetic communication skills and ability to build trust with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
