Howells Veterinary Services in Easingwold is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, supportive team.
We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm for mixed practice to join our established independently owned R.C V.S accredited practice in rural North Yorkshire.

We’re looking for an experienced vet to join our mixed practice team.
Join our large team which means less on-call/weekend work than a farm only practice!
Why us:
- A mixed veterinary practice with a split of 75% farm, 5% equine, 20% pets
- Join a team of 21 vets with 12 mixed vets
- The duty rota includes both first and second call and is shared evenly between 12 vets. There is also a nurse on duty out of hours, which allows for good support in an emergency.
- The out of hours rota always includes two Vets on call, equally shared between 12 vets, allowing a 1 in 6 pattern.
- Rolling 12-week rota so you can always plan ahead for your days off, including a standard 4.5 day working week and a 4-day working week every 4th week.
- Generous holiday allowance with extended leave over the festive and new year period.
- The daily working pattern incorporates both half days and full days off in lieu of on call duties and working occasional Saturday mornings.
- Unlimited CPD Budget
- Further qualifications encouraged with protected, dedicated study time during the day
- RCVS/VDS fees paid.
- High calibre support staff including qualified RVN’s.
- You will be part of a dynamic mixed team with an excellent reputation and certificate holders in small animal, cattle and nutrition.
- Regular in-house clinical meetings and discussions and farmers meetings.
- Large and expanding farm client base, with regular routine fertility visits & herd health planning for both cattle and sheep. We deal with smallholders through to large commercial units.
- Total Vet, Vet impress, bull/ram fertility testing etc
- Very varied mix of work, and to a degree the role can be tailored to accommodate an individual’s areas of enthusiasm on a daily basis. It is important that you are happy to deal with all species out of hours.
- A spacious purpose-built premises with a large farm dispensary.
- We have an in-house laboratory and a close working relationship with several diagnostic and advisory institutions.
- Alongside our veterinary team we have Vet Techs, A Foot Trimmer, Specialists Vets, RVN and VCA’s all supported by our admin team.

Situated in Easingwold which is a small market town close to York, and in the middle of beautiful countryside- the Yorkshire Moors and The Howardian hills but still close to main roads and rail networks in York and Thirsk.
