Veterinary Surgeon – 12-Month FTC

Location: Derbyshire
Salary: Competitive salary DOE
Job Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract – Maternity Cover
Start Date: Provisionally December 2026

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a proudly independent, family-owned small animal practice on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

The practice is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic vet who enjoys a good balance of consultations and surgery and values having the clinical freedom and time to work cases up properly.

Ideally, you'll have at least four years' experience and be confident with routine first opinion medicine and surgery. An interest or strength in internal medicine would be particularly welcomed, although this isn't essential.

About the Practice

This established independent practice operates across multiple sites, providing high quality veterinary care to a loyal and engaged client base.

As a family-owned practice, the team places a strong emphasis on:

  • Clinical freedom
  • Continuity of care
  • High clinical standards
  • Personal client relationships
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Supportive working relationships

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
