Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for your next opportunity in a busy practice, with a great team, varied caseload, and excellent surgical opportunities?
We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with around 5 years plus experience to join our established team in Benfleet.
We’re particularly keen to hear from vets with strong surgical skills. Experience with laparoscopic spays would be a fantastic bonus, but if you’re keen to learn, we’re happy to support you in developing this skill.
About the Practice
We’re a busy practice with a good clinical caseload and a friendly, supportive team. You’ll work alongside a team of other Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, VCAs, and CCAs.
We have a varied caseload, giving you plenty of opportunity to utilize and develop your clinical and surgical skills.
Working Pattern and OOH
The role includes a 1:3 Saturday rotation, as well as Bank Holiday and on-call responsibilities shared with our nearby 24-hour practice.
The on-call and Bank Holiday commitment is not frequent, as this is shared across the wider network, giving you a good balance between work and home life.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
