Swift Referrals and Emergencies Hospital Clinician Opportunity

Swift Referrals and Emergencies have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Hospital Clinician to join their team. This position is based at their multidisciplinary referral hospital in Wetherby and offers the opportunity to join their large team of talented veterinary professionals, working an average of 20-30 hours per week around a 1:2 weekends and 1-2 days per week rota pattern. Salary on offer is up to £55k FTE.

Reporting to the Lead Hospital Clinician, you will:

  • Work alongside specialist-led clinicians to help facilitate excellent client and patient care.
  • Provide a diverse mix of first-opinion emergency consultations, diagnostics and surgery.
  • Assist referral clinicians with complex investigations and inpatient care.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

We have state-of-the-art technology including:

  • A purpose-built intensive care unit with emergency equipment such as point-of-care ultrasonography, oxygen kennels, ICU bays and cots for critical patients, multiparameter monitoring, and its own radiography suite.
  • An extensive in-house laboratory with tests such as coagulation profiles, blood gases, cortisol, CSF cytospin, blood and urinalysis equipment.
  • Diagnostic equipment including a 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 slice GE CT scanner, Doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Reporting to the Lead Hospital Clinician, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice, including:

  • Referral clinicians, led by two European Specialists.
  • Hospital clinicians who support referral departments and run the out-of-hours service.
  • Nursing and ACA teams who provide gold standard care to patients.
  • The client care team, providing the best service to clients.

You’ll:

  • Continue to develop your clinical skills and interests.
  • Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues.
  • Contribute positively to the clinical culture of the practice.
  • Be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

  • You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care.
  • You bring:
    • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS.
    • Experience treating common small animal first-opinion medical and surgical emergencies.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
    • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development.
    • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
