Job Opportunity at Bolton Central Vets for Pets
Do you want to join a growing practice that will support your development offering fantastic pay up to £75,000 (FTE, DOE)?
We have seen our practice growing from strength to strength under the new ownership of Steven. Due to this growth, they are looking for a new experienced Vet to join the team.
This will be the ideal role for someone that is a good all-rounder but looking for that development.
Ideally looking for 30 – 40 hours per week but we know this does not suit everyone so we are happy to look at what will support your lifestyle.
To promote that work-life balance, you are looking for, we offer you a set day off per week. Saturdays are worked on a 1 in 4 basis, with no Sundays or OOH.
If you have a passion for surgery, this might be the perfect role as we do have orthopaedic equipment available.
You will be supported by an exceptional clinical team with 3 other experienced vets, Steven our Practice Owner and qualified RVN, a further 2 RVNs, and 3 CCAs ensuring that you have everything you need to provide top-quality care to the local community and their pets!
About Us
We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our friendly team at Bolton Central Vets for Pets.
We are a genuinely friendly, inclusive, and supportive bunch who take pride in maintaining a warm, professional atmosphere. While established, the practice offers plenty of scope for someone to shape current practices, streamline workflows, and drive clinical excellence, leading to improved patient outcomes.
Collectively, our clinical team brings over 40 years of veterinary experience to the table, with a wide range of skills across medicine, surgery, diagnostics, and patient care. Our nursing team adds a further 30+ years of combined experience, ensuring excellent standards of inpatient care, anaesthesia, and client support. Our experienced front-of-house team ties it all together — they're welcoming, efficient, and know many of our clients and their pets personally. It’s a knowledgeable, reliable, and close-knit group that thrives on teamwork.

Our Practice
At Bolton Central Vets for Pets, we handle a wide variety of cases - from routine consults and surgeries to more complex medical work-ups, orthopaedics, and soft tissue procedures. With advanced imaging including ultrasound and digital x-ray, there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved in interesting and rewarding cases every day. Having already expanded into orthopaedics, we’re keen to support team members with interests in advanced diagnostics, surgery, or imaging. If you’ve got a clinical passion, we’ll back you to develop it!
Our welcoming, professional practice is busy and fast-paced with a dynamic caseload and a real buzz throughout the day. There’s always something happening - from surgeries and consults to more complex cases - making it an exciting place to grow your skills. We’re big believers in ongoing development - both clinically and personally. Members of our team have undertaken CPD in areas such as feline medicine, orthopaedics, leadership and mentoring, and client communication. We also have trained mental health first aiders in the practice, helping us maintain a supportive and compassionate environment.
Location and Commute
Our practice is in a great location, based on a busy and well-connected retail park. There’s a great selection of shops and places to grab food nearby, including Sainsbury’s, Costa, Greggs, Boots, and more. We’re just a short 5-minute drive away from Bolton town centre and around 25 minutes to Manchester city centre by train or car, making it easy to enjoy both local charm and big city buzz. Great transport links mean commuting and after-work plans are a breeze whether you’re looking to explore Bolton’s gardens, parks, and museums or venture into Manchester – we have it all!

With a competitive salary from £75,000 on offer, we’re ideally looking for someone to work full-time (40 hours per week) with no OOHs and Saturdays are currently on a 1:4 rota basis.
