CLINICAL LEAD VETERINARY SURGEON

SALARY UP TO £75,000 DOE, WELCOME BONUS UP TO £5,000 AND RELOCATION ALLOWANCE UP TO £5,000

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join Sampson Park Group and play a key role in shaping clinical standards across 3 of the 6 sites, mentoring colleagues and driving clinical excellence across our practices.
You will be responsible for the leadership and development of 7.6 FTE vets and supported by the Director of Practice and 2 other Lead Vets.
Our practice group consists of a dynamic team of 14.5 FTE Veterinary Surgeons with a diverse range of skills, including an exotic specialist and certificate holders. We regularly hold clinical meetings to share knowledge and ideas, and we continue to invest in equipment and facilities to support best practice. The area the group sits in also won Area of the Year for 2026 at the Brilliant People Awards
Based across our sites in Corby, Oundle and Thrapston, you'll be joining a collaborative team where resource sharing, innovation and support are central to our culture.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will be the senior veterinary clinician across the practice group, responsible for leading clinical standards, governance and the delivery of outstanding patient and client care.
You’ll provide clinical leadership to the veterinary team, oversee complex cases and support colleagues through mentoring, coaching and clinical guidance. Working closely with the wider leadership team, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of the practices while driving continuous improvement in clinical quality and outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to take the next step into leadership. Previous leadership experience is welcomed but not essential, and we will support the right candidate in developing their leadership skills.
Working Pattern
- Full-time position
- 40 hours per week
- Based primarily across Corby, Oundle and Thrapston
- 2 in 12 Saturdays, 8:30am–5:00pm at Oundle & 8:30am–12:00pm at Oundle or Thrapston
General Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain high clinical standards across 3 practices in the group
- Provide mentorship, coaching and support to 7.6 FTE veterinary surgeons
- Oversee complex medical and surgical cases
- Drive clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Support strategic decision-making alongside the senior leadership team
- Ensure exceptional patient and client care across all sites
- Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

- A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS
- Significant experience in small animal practice with strong medical and surgical capability
- A passion for mentoring, coaching and supporting colleagues
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
- Experience contributing to clinical governance, audits or quality improvement initiatives
- The ability to manage challenging clinical situations with professionalism and integrity
- A commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care
