Job Description
Salary: £40k per annum
Contract: Permanent
Working hours: 40 hours per week. Including a rota of Saturdays
Location: Maidstone, ME15
Closing Date: 4 November 2026, midday
Picture this: you see a case on Monday, scan it on Tuesday, operate on Wednesday, and you’re the one the owner wants to see at the recheck. At Pennard Maidstone, the cases are yours to work up from start to finish, with a supportive team around you every step of the way.
About Us
No corporate ownership, no hidden agenda, just Kent, and doing things right. Pennard Vets is a truly independent group, and our Maidstone practice has been part of the family since 2015. It’s a friendly, close-knit branch near the town centre, with the support of our wider Pennard team whenever you need it.
Why Maidstone?
- Complex surgery, on-site. We don’t just do spays and lumps here. A wide range of complex surgery happens in our own theatre, backed by imaging, dentistry and in-house labs.
- Time to think. 15-minute consults and most clients on unlimited consults mean you can actually get to the bottom of things, and see your cases through.
- People to learn from. Our team holds further qualifications in medicine and feline ultrasound, and our nurses run their own clinics.
- A practice cats actually like. We were one of the first in the country to be recognised as a Cat Friendly Clinic by the International Society of Feline Medicine.
- Recognised for getting it right. RCVS PSS accredited, with an Outstanding award for Client Service, and an approved VetGDP and VN Training Practice.
- Nights off. Always. Our own dedicated out-of-hours team covers emergencies, so overnights are never part of your rota.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You’ll fit right in if…
- You’re clinically confident and hold yourself to high standards, and you’re happy to say so
- You’d rather ask “is there a better way to do this?” than “that’s how we’ve always done it”
- You’re always learning, whether that’s working towards a certificate, picking up a new skill, or just getting sharper at what you already do
- You want a say in how the business grows, not just a place on the rota
