About Us
Practice Owner Sylvia Annies, qualified in Hannover and has a wealth of experience spanning over 31 years, 15 years running Barry Vets for Pets.
Sylvia’s supportive team consists of another 4 Vets, 3 RVNS, 1 SVN, 1 PCA and a strong team of 5 Receptionists, all supported by an experienced and supportive Practice Manager.
Our wellbeing is as important to us as our patients care, and we therefore also have two colleagues who are trained Mental Health First Aiders.
The Practice
The practice itself has recently undergone a refit and now boasts 5 new consult rooms, a brand new, dedicated colleague room and all the usual equipment you’d expect from a first class GP practice including digital X-rays, doppler blood pressure monitor, full in-house lab and ultrasound scanner.
Our great location also means we benefit from an interesting variety of cases caring for dogs, cats, rabbits and all sorts of small furries, and a superb loyal client base.
The Role
This rewarding role is part time, working 3 days a week with a day off when working the weekend rota which consists of just 1 in 4-5 Saturdays, 9am to 6pm. There are no OOH.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
