Veterinary Surgeon at Abivale Vets, Wallingford

Up to £65,000

Welcome bonus of up to £5,000 (pro rata) & relocation support of up to £5,000

Abivale Vets, part of the inspiring vet care network, is recruiting!

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Abivale Vets in Wallingford. You’ll enjoy a well-balanced caseload across consulting and surgery, with the clinical freedom to manage and follow your own cases.

This is a sole charge role, so we’re looking for someone comfortable working independently and making confident clinical decisions. You won’t be working alone, however. When based at Wallingford, you’ll be supported by a highly experienced Veterinary Nurse and Receptionist, alongside the wider Abivale team and clinical network.

You’ll be based primarily at our Wallingford practice, with the option to spend one day per week at our main site if preferred.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding first opinion caseload.

  • You’ll take ownership of your cases, using your experience and clinical judgement to work confidently in a sole charge environment while remaining connected to the wider Abivale team.
  • You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice and delivering excellent care for our patients and clients.

Flexibility with Hours

  • A typical full-time role averages 40 hours per week, and we’re also happy to consider part-time applications.
  • Average of 40 hours per week for full-time colleagues
  • Part-time applications welcomed
  • 2 Saturdays and 1 Sunday every 7 weeks
  • Bank holidays shared on a rota basis
  • No out-of-hours or on-call requirement

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
