Find your future with Ardene House Veterinary Practice
At Ardene House Veterinary Practice, we're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our experienced team on a part-time basis (16 hours per week). Whether you're looking for a predominantly consulting role or enjoy a mix of consulting and surgery, we'd love to hear from you. We're happy to be flexible and tailor the role around your strengths and interests.
Based in Aberdeen, Ardene offers the perfect blend of a busy first-opinion practice with access to hospital-level facilities, giving you the opportunity to work cases up to a high standard while enjoying genuine clinical freedom.
What you'll be stepping into
We're seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys building lasting client relationships and delivering outstanding patient care. This role has a preference for consulting, making it ideal for someone who enjoys case continuity, client communication and internal medicine. However, if you also enjoy surgery, we're happy to incorporate this into the role, with salary reflecting the level of clinical responsibility. You'll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team who encourage clinical discussion, knowledge sharing and continued professional development.
This is a part-time position of 16 hours per week, with flexibility around how those hours are worked. Shifts fall between 8:00am and 7:00pm, with participation in a 1 in 3 Saturday rota. We're committed to finding a working pattern that suits both you and the practice, so we're happy to discuss flexible options at interview.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
