Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital, part of inspiring vet care, are on the lookout for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.
We are a small animal 1st opinion and referral hospital awarded outstanding in all six of the RCVS awards. Our high specification of both facilities and equipment coupled with the knowledge of our existing team offers plenty of opportunity for professional development.

As a busy first opinion practice we see a varied caseload, undertake referrals in internal medicine, laparoscopy, radiology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, acupuncture. We have equipment to support oncology, surgical (soft tissue and orthopedic), diagnostic imaging and medical services, offering opportunities for progression in a number of areas according to interest. Our superb equipment includes CT, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, vascular Sealing device & harmonic scalpel, CR digital X-ray & digital dental X-ray, colour flow dolpler, Capnography & Ventilator and slit Lamp. We also utilise VVS to support inhouse care /imaging.

The successful candidate will have a client-focused approach with enthusiasm for general clinical veterinary practice. A minimum of 2 years’ experience is ideal, with certificates always welcomed and encouraged, but not essential.
About Us
Currently we have 5 Veterinary Surgeons including certificate holders in ECC, soft tissue and ophthalmology. We also have a large support team of 13 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 3 PCA and 9 Support Staff. We have an inquisitive and learning culture, encouraging input from all colleagues and wellbeing is prioritised. We have several advanced practitioners to support you and act as mentors supporting career progression.

Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.
Typical day time shifts involve a half day consulting and half day theatre. Our shifts are generally split between inpatient patient, consulting and theatre. Our rota is very flexible and can be tailored to the candidate's preferred working times or clinical interests, both full and part time applicants are welcomed. Full time is 38 hours over 4 days per week with 1:4 weekends and no OOH.

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...
You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:
- A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
