Veterinary Surgeon

Salary up to £65,000 DOE, up to £5,000 relocation allowance and up to £5,000 welcome bonus

My Vet, part of inspiring vet care, is a large practice with branches across Lancashire. We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing team.

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are in the unique position where we can find a role to suit you, rather than you fitting into a role defined by us. Full time or part time, consulting only, or a more regular role involving consulting and surgical time. We are flexible in what we can offer and are willing to work with applicants to find what is best for them.

Practice Highlights

We are an 11-branch practice situated across Lancashire, covering from the Fylde Coast to the Rawtenstall Valley. All branches are PSS inspected, with our main hospital in Clayton Le Dale holding Tier 3 Hospital status. Manchester and Liverpool are 40 minutes away, the Lake District just over an hour away, and London just over two hours away by direct train.

You will be joining a team of 17 vets, with certificate holders in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, with another two vets near completing Dermatology certificates. Our main hospital has a CT Scanner, Digital Radiography, Dental Radiography, Advanced Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, endoscopy and bronchoscopy capabilities as well as a full in-house laboratory for working up cases. Studying towards certificates is fully funded and encouraged.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. Key Responsibilities

A full-time working week is 4 days, with a set day off per week and one in eight Saturday mornings. Consultations are 15 minutes as standard, with longer appointments for more complex cases, blood samples and euthanasia. There is protected admin time throughout the day to be able to do what is needed to help our clients, without putting additional time pressures on our vets.

Out of hours provision is provided by Vets Now based out of our main hospital site in Clayton Le Dale, which means inpatient care is continuous without the need for patient transfers.
