We are recruiting a highly motivated and experienced Veterinary Technical Manager to join our team at Purina. In this role, you will be responsible for being the go-to Purina technical expert for delivery of nutritional technical support to all the Purina specialist business, primarily, but not limited to supporting the Veterinary Nutrition Partner (VNP) team, the breeder team and the CES customer support team, as well as the wider Purina business when required. Product portfolios mainly comprise the Pro Plan® suite of products, to include Veterinary Diets and the life stage products but may also include some of the wider Purina portfolio products.
This is a permanent opportunity which will report into the Veterinary Scientific Affairs Manager.

Your Impact
In this role, you will drive endorsement, recommendation and usage of Purina products by the veterinary community in the UK and Ireland. Through comprehensive technical support internally to the specialist sales, marketing and customer support functions, the Purina grocery business where required, and externally providing support to vet professionals in practice, the Veterinary Technical manager drives awareness of Purina and confidence in its products and nutritional expertise.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the business in achieving its goals and targets for sales of Purina products
- Preparation of technical materials and tools, to include, but not limited to: maintaining the Veterinary Product Guide, product comparisons, detail aids and in practice tools, Q&As, training presentations for internal and external use.
- Management and reporting of the Purina Technical Helpline, to include veterinary support along with the Veterinary Nurse Manager to practice nutritional queries, support to VNPs with queries; to include daily (M-F) monitoring and responding to enquiries; maintenance of records; monthly KPI reports.
- Assessment of call type and trends to give insight into vet professional technical concerns and mindset and development of strategies and materials to respond to this and give Purina competitive advantage. Assistance with sensitive issues and liaison with other functions.
- Technical support for practices, to include practice visits where VNP support needed for presentations, deeper technical discussions. This may involve some travel and evening work.
- Creation of technical articles for technical communications to drive awareness and advocacy for Purina within the vet community, including writing of articles for vet press publications, editorial copy for Purina vet newsletters.
- Attendance and support at key events in veterinary calendar both internal and external, such as shows, congresses, symposia to provide technical expertise.
- Technical support for Purina charity partners such as Street Vet, Cats Protection; Canine Partners as well as commercial partners and customers.
- Assist Scientific Affairs Manager with projects as required, including KOL and vet school support; delivery of external training such as Young Vets programme; planning and delivery of Purina events.

Your Ingredients for Success
To be successful in this role you will be passionate about nutrition and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS). You will be motivated to be part of a team, build great relationships within the team and the external stakeholders and customers, be open to how we continuously improve as a team, and be the best!
You will also:
- Be proficient in PowerPoint and Excel and comfortable using other Microsoft Office programs – IT literate.
- Have understanding and experience of clinical challenges within practice and case management. Strong technical interest and fulfilment of RCVS mandated CPD requirements.
- Have previous experience in delivering training or lecturing, confidence in delivery of training.
- Be thorough and accurate in preparation of materials.
- Have expertise in nutrition to include passion for sharing knowledge.
- Ability to coach and develop others in nutrition and related clinical topics.
