Role Summary

The Vetting & Compliance Manager is responsible for the day to day leadership, productivity, and quality performance of the Vetting & Compliance team. The role provides operational management and oversight of Vetting & Compliance Coordinators, ensuring vetting activity is delivered accurately, compliantly, and within agreed timeframes. The role also supports the Resourcing Director by contributing to effective recruitment operations through assurance of vetting compliance and delivery against workforce readiness targets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational management of the Vetting & Compliance team, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Line manages Vetting & Compliance Coordinators, including performance management, coaching, feedback, and development, in line with company procedures.
  • Allocate, prioritise, and supervise team workflows to ensure vetting requirements are delivered efficiently and within agreed SLAs.
  • Lead oversight of data integrity, confidentiality, and audit readiness across vetting records and systems, providing support for internal and external audits with DWP, ISO teams, and Clinical Governance.
  • Monitor team output and compliance quality, addressing performance issues, backlogs, or risks proactively.
  • Ensure vetting and compliance processes are applied consistently and in line with internal screening policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex or high-risk vetting matters, providing guidance and decision-making support to the team.
  • Support the Head of Resourcing in the oversight of recruitment operations by providing vetting progress updates, capacity insight, and assurance of compliance clearance.
  • Contribute to the delivery of operational targets by ensuring vetting activity enables timely mobilisation of compliant personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within vetting and compliance operations to enhance efficiency and quality.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential & Desirable

  • Previous experience in a vetting, compliance, screening, or regulated administrative role, supporting candidate or contractor onboarding processes.
  • Hands-on experience verifying, assessing, and validating sensitive documentation (e.g. right-to-work, identity checks, qualifications, background screening) in line with company policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience of maintaining accurate electronic records and databases, ensuring data integrity, version control, and audit readiness.
  • Demonstrable experience handling confidential and sensitive personal data, with a strong understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and secure information management.
  • Experience working to defined policies, procedures, and compliance standards, with the ability to interpret requirements and apply them accurately.
  • Ability to identify gaps, errors, or non-compliance in documentation and proactively follow up to ensure full clearance prior to deployment.
  • Experience liaising with internal stakeholders (e.g. HR, operations, recruitment) to provide accurate vetting status updates and compliance confirmations.
  • Evidence of working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple vetting cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, confidentiality, and audit compliance within vetting or regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting and engaging with internal and external audits, including DWP, ISO, and Clinical Governance requirements.
