BUSINESS AREA

In the UK, Global Banking focuses on 4 main business areas: Corporate Clients Group, Capital Markets, Low Carbon Transition Group, and Transaction Banking.

The role sits within the Transaction Banking team, which provides cash management, transactional FX, deposits, trade financing & supply chain solutions services. It also includes a Global Trade Services unit enabling clients to optimise, secure and finance international transactions worldwide.

Cash Management is responsible for selling and structuring cash management solutions to corporate clients. Solutions include accounts, Electronic Channels, payables and receivables, Card acquiring, Corporate Cards & Liquidity management (cash pooling).

Job Purpose

As a Vice President, the role holder will be accountable for ensuring excellence on all deliverables related to marketing, executing, and regulation within their business area. Co-ordinates junior colleagues and handles complex analyses with autonomy, whilst exercising sound judgment on when to escalate issues to more senior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for providing excellence in relation to key activities within the Cash Management function as a senior team member with substantial experience in the relevant area and Global Banking as a whole. This will include delivering, with appropriate supervision where required, tasks such as:
  • Managing and driving business growth from a portfolio of clients, to include UK Pilot clients and large MNC names with a focus on the French corridor (acting as UK CMO);
  • Co-ordinating origination and execution capability within the area of product specialisation, and developing and executing strategies across business lines / sectors to win new deals and clients;
  • Maintaining own client relationships / transactions and generating new business ideas that are in line with the Banks policies, regulatory obligations, and wider strategies in order to achieve annual revenue targets. Escalates any issues arising from transactions;
  • Negotiating key terms for transactions and managing the ongoing maintenance of own transactions / files;
  • Building strong working relationships with other Business Lines of the Bank (Coverage, LIS, as examples) to align on Client Action Plans and target opportunities;
  • Feeding back internally on relevant client feedback; market intelligence; and process improvements; and
  • Ensuring their client revenues are in line with expectations and analysing any significant drops / increases in revenues and / or flows, in order to identify any issues or opportunities.
  • Markets and originates structured Cash Management solutions to clients’ portfolio, maintaining a high degree of market awareness.
  • Applies knowledge to perform complex tasks and solve complex issues in creative and effective ways as well as to assist with the management of workstreams where required. Utilises expertise to make independent judgments to deal with a variety of situations, but refers atypical and particularly complex matters to more senior colleagues for input where appropriate.
  • Manages workstreams and ensures the quality of deliverables. Co-ordinates the planning of work of junior colleagues, and often supervises their day to day activities and trains them to support their development.
  • Influences and supports members of the Cash Management function by leading in decision making and approach where problems are more complex and require sophisticated analysis or experience. Acts as a point of escalation for more junior staff.
  • Manages relationships with internal stakeholders and clients independently. Leads commercial conversations with clients under strategic guidance from senior colleagues.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification required with expert understanding of Cash Management, typically gained at BNP Paribas or within another top tier investment bank.
  • In-depth knowledge of processes within the Cash Management function with an advanced understanding of the specialism, and strong knowledge of processes within Global Banking. Good working knowledge of a wide range of company-wide policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation. Able to utilise knowledge and experience to implement effective operating practices in the team.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts and provide specialist guidance and advice to others. Able to construct a broad point of view and market convictions.
  • Strong stakeholder and good people management skills to ensure the delivery of timely and commercial solutions for clients.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills in order to articulate technical issues and to be able to take the complex and make simple to enable effective communication with individuals across the business.
  • French language skills preferable.
  • Strong personal focus on accuracy and attention to detail and able to review and improve work of more junior colleagues.
  • Strong computer skills and a good knowledge of a range of standard computer software, e.g., Microsoft Office, email.
